Colleges of general practice

 There are two Australian colleges of general practice, the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine.

Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP)

Membership of the RACGP provides GP registrars with a range of services and tools to assist with general practice training and fellowship preparation.

Services for RACGP members include:

• Pre-examination workshops during the examination enrolment period.
• The RACGP John Murtagh Library - full access to the specialist service including loans, literature searches and more. The online library contains a suite of full text databases including; Informit AustHealth Collection; Harrison's Online and the AccessLange Collection of over 50 e-texts.
• Assessment practice papers.
• Online examination support for candidates enrolled in the RACGP exam. This is provided through the RACGP online learning platform gplearning.

Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM)

ACRRM offers a range of resources to help GP registrar members through their training and assessment.

Services for ACRRM registrar members include:

• Rural and Remote Medical Education Online (RRMEO)
• Searchable Educational Inventory: locate educational opportunities, training posts, clinical attachments and online resources.
• Learning Planner: record all your educational activities towards fellowship, credentialing, vocational maintenance and other reporting requirements.
• Practical learning modules:

Palliative Care Medicare and You Practice Management

• Clinical Guidelines (portable): The guidelines for PDAs are now available for download to Palm and Pocket PC operating systems, as well as Android, Blackberry, Symbian and iPhones. You may also view online from your computer or print copies.

Assessment Preparation Resources

• Free recommended reading list.
• Free Multiple Choice Questionnaire practice examination questions available online plus the opportunity to sit a 50 question practice exam in the same format as the summative examination during the enrolment period.
• For a fee, Multi Source Feedback (MSF): a formative/practice assessment can be arranged by the candidate or via their RTP to gain feedback before undertaking the summative MSF assessment.
• Free mini Clinical Exam (miniCEX): an online training module and formative/practice documents to conduct a practice miniCEX prior to the summative assessment.
• Structured Assessment using Multiple Patient Scenarios (StAMPS) practice examination.
