About GPRA – GPSN’s umbrella organisation

GPSN is an initiative of General Practice Registrars Australia (GPRA). GPRA supports the next generation of general practitioners.

GPRA's vision

GPRA is the peak voice for the next generation of general practitioners. GPRA aims to improve the health care of all Australians through excellence in education and training, and ensure that general practice is a medical specialty of choice.

GPRA's objectives

  • Be the voice for future GPs
  • Promote general practice as a medical specialty of choice
  • Ensure excellence in GP education and training
  • Support our members to have sustainable and fulfilling careers in general practice
  • Have sound governance and follow best business practices

GPRA pathway

GPRA supports future general practitioners, from their journey through medical school right through until fellowship. All GPRA programs encourage active engagement with general practice and promote general practice as a specialty of choice.

Are you a medical student?

Then you've come to the right place! The General Practice Students Network (GPSN) is the first stage on the GPRA continuum. The campus-based network offers medical students early exposure to general practice through fun activities including clinical workshops, educational presentations and social events. It also provides a scholarship that allows medical students to experience general practice early in their studies – the GPSN First Wave Scholarship Program.

Are you a prevocational doctor?

The Going Places Network addresses the difficulties general practice has in reaching prevocational doctors in the hospital system by providing a single, clearly identifiable source of access, information and career advice about general practice.

Are you a GP registrar?

General Practice Registrars Australia (GPRA) represents GP registrars across Australia, advocating for them on issues relating to education and training. GPRA also produces resources to support GP registrars throughout their training.
